In my experience the Avon Distanzia are GREAT tires ... and especially good in rain, very secure, good grip everywhere, long lasting, stable. Probably an 80/20 tire = Road 80% Off road = 20%
I've used Distanzia's on several bikes going back over 10 years, mixing and matching with many other tires.
KLR650, Tri Tiger, V-strom and my current Suzuki DR650 ... which is about the same weight as your XT600.
On a 600 size machine, the Distanzia wear well. They are head and shoulders above Avon's road rider tire, which is a "budget" tire. Distanzia is TOP OF THE LINE. Fantastic wet road grip. Deep, wide "sipes" push out a lot of water, much more than average road tire.
Great on paved roads wet or dry, OK on packed dirt roads, extremely TOUGH side wall, I rode one flat for 50 miles at
50 mph. No problem. (DR650)
Tire Pressures on your XT should be "around" 22 to 25 PSI Front, 25 to 29 PSI rear, depending on load and conditions.
I've run nearly ALL the competing tires in the class over the years, about 200K miles. Tourance, Distanzia, Anakee, MT90 Scorpion, Shinko E704.
All are very good, the Shinko the least expensive, the Metzeler Tourance the most expensive ... and longest lasting. The Distanzia lasts about the same as all the others listed ... the Tourance is out front on longevity.
All provide great side grip, great wet weather performance, stable under hard braking and ... quite long lasting.
