Climate change or natural cycle?

A little story from my city, in 1997 we had a record 2,4m snow measured on this day, today it was 0 and we have 16degrees celc I dont complain, maybe let the bike stay on idle a little more and we might get 20degrees next year I think its natural cycles like everything else on earth. Happy riding this summer to all of you, be safe

Here is a picture from todays trip.

It is all political BS. Global warming was shot down, they lied. Now they call it Climate Change. Hey, the climate is always in a state of change, all the time, even before modern times. I just get sick of hearing of it.

Sorry, rant over...

The world has been warming slowly since the last ice age , nothing new . It definitely hasn't been getting any warmer up here , still 30ºF in the morning and barely 40ºF daytime high , no sun to be seen .

Come on people, burn those hydrocarbons !!!

Are we really talking politics on a forum were people get angry just talking about which brand of oil to use, how to brake in a new piston ect?

But yeah, its nice with the weater. Less than a week ago we had snow, next week we're closing in on 20C.

I remember about 9 years ago, it snowed the 1st of May here in Denmark.

Speaking of "Green Stuff", how about asking your neighbors in Greenland about
Climate Change! Glaciers? What Glaciers!

95% of accredited scientists and top rated scientific institutions and research universities are 100% on board with facts proving climate change is happening. All agree it's mostly man made and current research shows HUGE increases in just last 50 years. OFF THE SCALE increases in every measurable category. :help smilie:

Drink up!

There are still deniers? Can't argue that the globe is warming. Regardless of the cause, it's happening. It's also a fact that we're polluting way beyond the natural balance (every being pollutes). Only have to do China or India to see it in extreme cases. So let's do i something about that regardless of it's relevance to global warming. It doesn't take much common sense to see a relation though.

The earth has warmed and cooled before. Sea levels rose and retreated. But never with this much infrastructure around it. Unless you are happy to abandon all that and send yourself back into poverty we have to deal with it.

Yes, the level of denial and pure ignorance is astounding. Also, to note, never have we seen these radical increases in such a short Time Window!

But some comments above shows the power of right wing talk radio, Fox News and other media spreading BS, suppressing facts and playing straight into hands of major corporate polluters ... who've convinced us ITS OUR FAULT, not theirs ... and WE should pay to fix it!

Anyone hear latest revelation from a whistle blower from Exxon-Mobil stating they knew all the facts about climate change 50 years ago? ... and have worked to distort and deny it ever since. Paying out Billions to do the hush job.

Really, travelers are the first to see climate change results up close and in person. The mention of China and India above are perfect examples. How can you miss it ... in all it's manifestations?

Talk to the 90 year olds (I have!), ask them how things were when they were kids.

At least we bike travelers make a pretty small carbon foot print, especially those riding 250cc or smaller bikes. But even if the whole world rode 125's ... it would not stop us going off the cliff. Too late for that now.

Rant OFF!

Pub closed today? I dont know how you can ride old bikes, they really do alot of damage to the enviroment! When i have to ride electric bike its over for me, timeline for gasolin/diesel cars is 2025 no more selling here then. I quess all old bikes will be banned from riding, so enjoy as long as you can! I understand this thread was a big failure, my mistake!!

I'm going to design an Ion pulse generator , may take 5 years to get the bike up to 60mph though.

or miniature Nuclear fission reactor(yes not fusion) , 2 different things. never need to refuel (hopefully).

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
