Fitting Acerbis Long Range Tank; US v Euro Model - advice required.
Morning All! Having missed an ebay opportunity to obtain a 23l tank for my 03XT600E my search continues...
I have located a source in the US that looks promising BUT they advertise the tank as suitable for a 95-02 XT600 (no 'E') but this may not mean anything...
The tank looks the same as the one that is advertised to fit the Euro XT600E model 95-04.
I assume the only difference is simply that the US model was discontinued 2 years earlier, thus I should have no issues fitting the tank to my 03 - BUT I don't know for sure and cant find anyone who does.
Was the US 95-02 XT600 the same bike as the European 95-04 XT600E?
Your thoughts appreciated!
Also - any negatives re a black tank? Seems its all that's available...

There was actually no US models after '95, so that reference must be referring to the Euro and everyone else lucky enough to get them. Don't ask me why they stopped.

Hey RN... deals done. Ordered 4 inline filters too and they threw in a tshirt
You'll find the tank here:
Yamaha Acerbis XT600 Fuel Tanks Just Gas Tanks.com
I'm headed out to the US soon so have shipped to a us buddy and will hand carry back.. Looks like import duties will be in the region of £50 so still a good deal if you ship to UK...
Best of luck!

Hi Braddan,
great deal!
and thanks for the intel!
Just had a look and the price in USD is really great...
Have to check if after postage, import fees and VAT it's still worth it!
Thanks again and good luck with your XT - fitted with a shiny brand new Acerbis tank!
Ps: Post us a picture when it's all up and runing!
Cheers,
RN

Whoop - just back form Colorado. Tank delivered as promised... can highly recommend guys at Just Gas Tanks is your complete online shop for IMS, Clarke, Acerbis, and Safari Fuel Tanks. - Just Gas Tanks.com if anyone is looking. They missed the filters I ordered but rush shipped em without a quibble as soon as I emailed and included a free t shirt and some stickers - who doesn't like stickers
Tank was too big to hand carry back to UK so had to check it to fly home. Had been warned that trying to fly a fuel tank as luggage would be an issue so told 'em it was a water tank and no-one batted an eyelid
Next step, project install

Cheers for the heads up, I did notice but a few weeks ago mine said something similar. Folks check in and out. Just thought I'd ask.
