The XT shown above has an aftermarket Yoshimura pipe on it (made in USA).
It's a LOT more free flowing than your GSXR can and it's lighter too. But Yoshi pipes like that are generally obnoxiously noisy ... at least they are as sold in USA ... if in Norway they probably insist on some sort of restrictor ...
to keep it quiet, so an exercise in futility there. Guys in USA run these and they are REALLY annoying.
Hundreds of DR650 riders are using that same GSXR can on post '97 bikes. I have one too, not fitted yet. No jetting changes required at all on the DR650 ... and probably the same with your XT. K&N filters are fine ... if you never go off road. Off road in serious dust K&N can let a lot of dust into your carb. I much prefer an oiled, foam filter. I like Twin-Air brand.
I believe your XT has a Mid Pipe ... and the standard one will not work with the GSXR can. A good muffler shop or fabricator can knock up a mid pipe in a couple hours. You will then need to fit an adaptor to mount can to your sub frame. All very straight forward stuff for a good fabricator.
The Mid pipe for the GSXR can for the DR650 is $225 usd.
Many of the GSXR's cans used are Titanium. Not sure about your 2001 can, but could well be a Ti can. Very well made piece, NO REPACKING ever required. Will last forever ... and only just a bit louder than your stock exhaust. Win Win ... but not a free mod. $$$
What do you gain? No power change and a bit lost weight (Maybe a kg. or two at most over stock) ... and a much nicer sound.
