IRAN Petrol Urgent! 600xt
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello.
I am driving from france to cambodia with a 600XT (2003)who works with unleaded petrol. In Iran they only offer benzin. My english and my mecanic khnowledge is not good enough to know if I can put it in my motorbike without any damages> Do you think I can put Benzin or leaded petrol? What should I ask for??
Thank you for your help. I am waiting in Tabriz with an empty tank...

Normally you can drive most of fuel with normal compressed carburator XT engine.
leaded occasinally if you want, but stick to unleaded mostly.
Try one litre or two and see what the engine thinks.
Bye

Hi the leaded petrol should be ok but it will kill you cataylast if you still have one in the pipe. Assuming your XT is not injected
The leaded may cause pinking though which is fuel detonation not fuel burn. If it pinks (you will notice then dont use it as it can blow a hole in the piston. I would try benzine the lower quqlity stuff and see how it runs. XTs have a reputation of coping with bad gas,

Put petrol/benzine in it! what good is a bike with no petrol. You can see all the tiz taz, tic tac filling at the pump go there. Dont put diesel like the trucks use! Leaded fuel works fine, it just finishes the catalytic converter in the exhaust if you have it.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
