New to me '86 XT600
Just bought a fairly clean '86 XT 600. Lots of fun and power.
I found a few issues, typical of any older used bike...
While looking the bike over after a ride I found an oil leak at the rear of the magnesium clutch cover where it had cracked and been welded. Not terrible, but it does weep and dribble on the garage floor. I suppose the case may be lightly warped from the welding. Can I use some RTV on a new clutch gasket?
Other than that, it has an adpated chain slide from another model, so I'd like to find a factory replacement. Is there anywhere online to order one from?

Nice XT!....looks quite similar to my '88.
This site has had everything I've ever needed for my XT's....
Motogrid | Honda OEM Parts | Kawasaki OEM Parts | Suzuki OEM Parts | Yamaha OEM Parts
The exploded views are great for pin-pointing parts......& generally are @ least 1/3 less than dealers prices.

Cheap parts from Google Search
Bowfin,
Try searching Google for a the OEM part number. I was able to find a timing chain from a boat dealer for 1/3 the price of any other cycle parts website...I installed last nighht and it fits perfectly. Acerbis makes some inexpensive plastics, but you'll need to get creative since they don't cover XT600's. I was able to go to my local cycle shop and compare my old fender with a new one and it fit perfectly.

Thanks, guys.
I've got some mini-stalk signals (to match the rear), a clutch cover gasket, and chain guide protector from Interstatecycleonline.com on the way.
I saw the boat place to when I googled the part number. Crazy but their prices were good too.
I love this bike. Still getting used to the power and handeling on the trail. i though I was revving it, but looking at the tach, I realized barley going over 3500 RPM. I had to make myself tae her to redline, and Wow Hang on, because scenery turns into a blur
I love this bike. My old '85 XR350R I used to have felt like a slug compare to this beast.
