What carb kit?

Thanks to the very generous advice I've been given on this forum my '97 XT's oil and clutch issues are solved. Now I'm wanting to clean and service the carb which I suspect from the state of the air filter (and the way the engine runs) is very gunged up. But I get two different results for carb kits on ebay:

Yamaha XT600E Carb Repair Kit Overhaul Xt600 1990-2002 | eBay

and:

New Yamaha XT 600 E Trail (E/Start) 97 1997 1x Carb Carburettor Repair Kit | eBay

Can anyone advise on which is the one I am likely to need? Or whether there is something better I should be going for?

if your not wanting to change from standard, and assuming your carbs are not leaking why not strip them down and give them a clean?..i use carb cleaner in a can,or brake cleaner. Then blow it through with a compressor.

Cost around £5 for two cans.

That Dynojet looks like a great piece of kit - I'll have to put it on my list to Santa :-) But on my limited budget for now I'm just looking to get the engine running as smoothly and reliably as possible so I'll probably go along the strip-down and clean route. I just wondered what bits (gaskets etc) are likely to need replacing so I can order them in advance and get the bike back on the road faster.

To be honest I think you'll find that trying to buy gaskets will be almost as expensive as one of the kits you were looking at.

I have stripped my carbs down twice this week. Didn't change any gaskets.

IF your at all worried about the float bowl gasket leaking if you want to re use it you could aplly a thin bead of sealant to the outside edge of the bowl.

You don't want any in the carb for obvious reasons,ie blocking jets etc
