Where can I get a replacement axle bolt for SW Motech centre stand, XT600E

I have a 4PT XT600E with the SW Motech centre stand.

The axle bolt that links the stand through the bottom end of the swingarm linkage is damaged.

SW Motech want €45 plus shipping, which is rather a lot for one bolt.

A replacement for the original would only be £10.

The SW Motech one is just a longer version of the original.

I don't want to get rid of the stand because it's far too useful.

I don't want to pay £50 for a bolt because I'm far too poor.

Is there an alternative source where I might be able to find this type of bolt at the right length and diameter?

The bolt is hollow with a recessed centre channel for greasing.

What's the name for that kind of bolt? If I knew what to call it I might have more luck finding one.

It's part 2 in this diagram

And the original is part 34 in this diagram.

post some pics of the "damage". a simple part like that can be re-welded, re-threaded, etc. by a good machinist. not rocket science.

option 2, fit a regular solid bolt from your nearest hardware shop without the grease fitting. grease the bearings manually (once every few years...)

How is the bolt damaged ?

Measure it. You can buy a replacement. SW Motech don't make bolts.

You don't need a grease nipple.

There are many ways to fasten things together. Different methods to perform the same engineering task.

I wouldn't pay £45 for a single bolt either. But I have a workshop and a lathe.

I've replaced it with a solid bolt.

The only place I could find similar greasable bolts was a local 4x4 supplier but they didn't have the right length in stock.

They seem common in the 4x4 world for leaf springs, so if you ever need a greasable bolt then search for shackle bolts or shaft bolts or leaf spring bolts.

They're still not cheap so I've chosen a solid bolt and will just remove the bolt for greasing.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
