XT 600 miss fire/ carbproblem?
Hi guys.
I have a little problem that is giveing me a headache My Tenere (1vj) has started to miss out, When I keep constant speed (any speed) for a longer time it starts to jump every now and then.
If I give it some trottle it runns perfectly agian for a while. It´s very annoying, specialy in rush hour traffic.
I cleaned the carbs and the tank, didn´t help much. Sorted the carb adjustments, didn´t do any differense. Put a new sparkplug in today, still the same.
I tought that maybe some one here would have an idea to what it might be before I dig deeper in to the carbs or ignition system.

Missing out
On first sight I would think of:
1 - Dirty air filter - clean and retry or ride a while without to test
2 - Freaky electrical contact somewhere, sometimes disconnects, with vibration of accelaration reconnects etc.
Check these first and let us know.

Conection
I just put on a new foam filter from MotoAir, but I tried to swap back to the old one today. And yes it helped a little, seems like the new filter is a bit thicker than the one I had before, so it was running a bit rich.
But the bike died on me today when I was going back to work after lunch, took the sparkplug out this evening when I got home and surprise surprise.... No spark. Put in a new plug, and still no spark.
So I think you are right Auke, it looks like I have a loose conection in there some where.
Too much to do at work at the moment, so I will have to take it apart and measure it up this weekend.
Hopefully it will be something simple.
Thanks for the help Auke
Tom.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
