Hi!
Just crossed Africa on 85 and 89 Tenere with the following toolkit. The toolkit excludes the big sized sockets needed to take the engine apart (crankshaft nut etc).
I did have anything I needed.
Screwdrivers:
phillips small and medium
'normal' small and medium
Spanners:
Small adjustable spanner (must fit to rear axle bolt)
10, 12, 13 mm open ended / ring
Sockets:
1/2" bar
extension bar
sockets 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, 22
Allen keys:
check what you need
Tire repair:
two irons 40 cm (can be shorter)
valve key
1/2 hacksaw blade for roughing up
Electrical:
1 small digital multimeter
Wheels:
1 spoke key - check required size(s)
Miscellaneous:
Small hacksaw with blades
Small hammer 200 grams (also useful for tentpegs)
feeler gauges 0.1, 0.15 (valve clearances), 0.9 (spark plug)
spark plug spanner
We did not carry a chain breaker as we had spare chains and sprockets.
