8 year round the worlder Sam Manicom had never intended to write books. He travelled for the adventures, and the chance to learn about the world and himself. Thankfully he wrote a diary every day, and when encouraged to write a book he decided to have a go. ‘It’ll be a new adventure, and if I don’t try I won’t know if I can.’

His first book ‘Into Africa’ is upfront with adventure, mishaps, dust, heat and the thrill of overlanding. It’s the story of an enlightening, yet daunting (and sometimes downright harrowing) journey across fourteen African countries by motorcycle.

Sam, deciding to break free from everyday life, passed his motorcycle test in 6 weeks and set off for Africa. To begin with just two things kept him going as he rode across Europe. Fear of turning round and having to face his mates in the pub, and the question ‘Can I really do this?’
