NOTE: This is not our normal view, but Google's API has somehow broken the view with a map and everything nicely laid out. We will fix it as soon as possible, but it's a very big job for us. Any Google API experts feel free to contact us! For now this will have to do, sorry.
Usage: Enter one or more of the fields, as you wish. Blank field means "all". Be sure to use correct country names, e.g. "United Kingdom" not UK or England. Unfortunately "united states" (united states of america doesn't work) gets United Kingdom as well, just work down to the bottom or last page. Not case-sensitive. Results sorted by newest first.

Shipment: From San Francisco, United States to Val Paraiso, Chile - December, 2011
Bert Johnson
Managing Director
Freight Forwarding Division
AGUNSA Logistics & Distribution
Office: 310.661.3060
Agunsa is freight forwarder that specializes in Chilean Shipments. They have several offices in Chile and they are well known there.
I shipped two KLR 650's from San Francisco, CA to Valpairso, Chile.
Bikes were sent LCL (less than container load). This means that we shared/rented the space with other people, all of which was organized by Agunas. Their fees included 3 original Bill of ladings, customs documentation, and booking with the ocean carrier. Total orgin costs were $1200 for the two bikes ($600 per bike). Destination charges were about another $600 total ($300 per bike), which gets the $900 per bike estimate.
Destination charges included the unloading of the container from vessel, deconsolidation (removing freight from container) and warehouse handling charges. Warehouse handling can be consider the fees for storing the bikes once they were taken off of the vessel and unloaded from the container. All in all Agunsa was very easy to work with. The communication around all the destination charges wasn't as straight forward as I had hoped and there was some miscommunication in the process to retrieve the bikes, but those were dealt with. The prices was much better than anyone else, which helped me look past any miscommunication.
Please feel free to ask any questions and I'd be happy to help answer questions on the process, and or contacts.

Shipment: From Kathmandu, Nepal to Bangkok, Thailand - November, 2011
Thamel,next to Katmandu Guest House
Kathmandu,Nepal.
Very pleasant and friendly operator. I was shipping a bike with my friend, two bikes altogether, prices above is after I've divided total by two and is including crating and passenger flight to BKK.
We send them an email 2 days before arrived in Katmandu and they arranged everything. Ones we found their office we were welcomed with beer and nice chat. Next day we delivered bikes to the airport and was nothing to do but watch they crating them and doing all dirty, paper work.
Day later we flow by passenger plane and met the bikes in Bangkok. At the BKK cargo another story. There is some paper work to be done before they release them. One guy was very helpful, was walking with us to organizing everything, but at some point asked for something like

Shipment: From Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to Mumbai, India - November, 2011
Mobile Phone 0715252667 or 0784252667
Located at cargo facility at DAR airport, further along the road from the passenger terminal.
After an unsuccessful attempt to ship our bikes by sea freight, we contacted Emirates Air for air freight service. Our contacts at Emirates were Yusuf Abdulrahman and Ally Hamdoun. Their e-mail addresses are
yuss...@emirates.com and ally...@emirates.com Both were extremely helpful and arranged for our bikes to leave in two days time. The rate was:
***Rate-----------------------------USD3.01 Per kilo
***Fuel Surcharge-----------------USD0.90 Per Kilo
***War Risk and Security Surcharge-------USD0.05 Per Kilo
***Air Waybill Fee----------------------------USD10.00
***Dangerous Goods Fee-------------------------USD80.00
They recommended Tammin at Gateway Global as the forwarder to use. Tammin completed the DG paperwork and arranged for our bikes to be crated for a total of 300 USD. Our crate was 320kg by volume and was 1367 USD. The crate was not the most substantial but did the job. We arrived at the airport at 8am with the bikes on the day of the flight and they were crated and paperwork done by 2pm for the 4:30pm flight. The bikes had to be drained of fuel but the batteries did not need to be disconnected. They wanted the oil drained as well, but I never did and no one ever checked... One issue was that all fees had to be paid in cash and it had to be USD.

This couldn't have gone better. I rode my motorcycle to Able Cargo's warehouse on the outskirts of Compton LA. It's a safe area despite being in Compton! Able specialise in shipping vehicles and are quite used to dealing with motorcycles. I rode it to the back of the warehouse, handed over with details of my VIN number, then I went to the front desk where I handed over my original registration document with a copy of my passport. That was it. Done in less than 30 minutes.
Able Cargo charged me $650, including all port and export fees.
At the other end, about a week before it arrived, Mark Cowley at Kingston Shipping emailed me to confirm when the motorcycle was due to arrive. I completed a customs declaration form, sent my them my bill of sale confirming the motorcycles value, and since I was permanently importing my motorcycle to the UK they took care of paying my port fees, duty and VAT (sales tax). I simply transferred payment to them online from my bank account.
UK ports fees were £210, approx $330
Finally Ron Perkins of Moving Motorcycles went to the port, collected my motorcycle from Chatham and delivered it to my door for £80
I would highly recommend all companies mentioned above. Able ship from the US, Kingston from the UK. I'm certain they could help you travel in either direction regardless of destination.
