From THIS page, you can find details of shipments ALREADY MADE by travellers, both air and sea, so you can plan your own shipment.
For each shipment, the details include Shipping Date, Cost, Shipper Contact details and a Description of the experience, often including very detailed and extremely useful information about the requirements for crating or the paperwork involved at the destination location.

NOTE: This is not our normal view, but Google's API has somehow broken the view with a map and everything nicely laid out. We will fix it as soon as possible, but it's a very big job for us. Any Google API experts feel free to contact us! For now this will have to do, sorry.
Usage: Enter one or more of the fields, as you wish. Blank field means "all". Be sure to use correct country names, e.g. "United Kingdom" not UK or England. Unfortunately "united states" (united states of america doesn't work) gets United Kingdom as well, just work down to the bottom or last page. Not case-sensitive. Results sorted by newest first.

My wife and I shipped our two SYM Symbas in one crate from Toronto, Canada to Cape Town, South Africa in September, 2011. We researched our options extensively and finally chose British Airways. Savio Johnson and Desmond Green (at the same phone number) were a great help. They do not offer an uncrated option. We were quoted a rate of 6.53 CAD per kilo, either by weight or volume, plus $250 for the dangerous goods fee, and $25 for some document or another. Our crate actually weighed more than either of the bikes, so our final weight was 320kg. The crate arrived in 3 days, in perfect shape. We rode the bikes to Toronto and had the crating done at Pack-All Crating near the airport. The cost of the crate was around $270, plus an additional $80 to deliver it to the airport. All in all, it was a painless process. We highly recommend both services.

Valfajr is the only shipping company so you have to use them. It's best to go direct, rather than through a hotel or travel company (not that there are many alternatives to choose from!) as we found conflicting information elsewhere!
It's a lengthy process (half a day to get the tickets, and a day for checking in, even though the ship sails at 10pm!) but so is everything in Iran so it was expected.
Call the number above to get through to the ticketing person at head office in Bandar Abbas. They also sail from Bandar Lengeh but we don't have those details. Alternative number to try is +98 917 161 7095.

Had my BMW F800GS shipped to the USA with a group from Unchained Tours, and arranged the return ferry directly with Kingstown Shipping. Dropped the bike off in Oakland at their local agents and that was that. It arrived back at Chatham in Kent 6 weeks later, and I collected it exactly 7 weeks after dropping it off.
All customs clearance was handled by Kingstown who had to deal with the additional complexity of me having shipped mine out via a Power-of-Attorney arrangement in a container with 10 other bikes. Nothing fazed them, and the cost was reasonable considering the quote I got for flying it out was almost 3 times as much. If you decide to use them, please mention this post on the HUBB!

The booking and the work of the agent in Mexico was good.
Make sure that in bill of lading
the consignee is only your name and passportnumber and hoteladress.
Absolutly no Tax.ID. if your a privat person and not a company.
A few days before the arrival of the ship, the agent in Guayaquil said that my adress in the bill of lading
was not correct and the bill of lading had to be alterd.
this will cost 175$.
The 1.ship to panama was late so they booked me on a earlier ship so i had to bring the bike 1 week
earlier than planed,good that i was near veracruz.
In Guayaquil i had to wait 1 week because the 2.ship was late.
Prozedure to get the bike in Guayaquil:
First you need to speak some spanish, but not fluently.
Second you need patience...a lot of it.
1.Go to the agent of Wallenius Willhelmsen in Guayaquil and get robbed by them by paying 280$ for 3 papers.this takes 1 full day.
2.Dont listen to the agent of Wallenius Willhelmsen in Guayaquil that you would need an other agent for the release of the bike.
Just go to the port yourself.
2.At the Port (this takes 2 days but everybody is nice and helpfull):
3.Go to security and get a temporary permit to access the port.
4.Go to Zona Primaria and show your papers of the agent of Wallenius Willhelmsen.
5.You also need a letter to apply for the "Declaration para ingress de vehiculo particular de turismo".
They gave me a copy of a letter of someone else with i had to wright new with my data.
6.The jefe must sign the paper.
7.Instpection of the bike with guys in uniform.
8.Interview with the jefe to get the "Declaration para ingress de vehiculo particular de turismo".
9.Pay the fees for the port. in my case 13.50$.
10.Get Release acces at the security to the port for driving the bike out.
11.Go back to where you payed to get the last paper.
12.Get your bike in the port.
13.Check the bike at the gate for the last time and you are free to travel.
The ripoff by the agent of Wallenius Willhelmsen gave me a bad feeling but the rest was o.k.
The folks at the port are very hard working but the system is not efficient.Had no scratches at the bike at all.
Can recomend it.
You can leave the boxes atached to the bike but they must be empty.
RoRO-Ferry costs a bit more then in a wooden box but it is less hassel.
