Hello you!
So glad to see you are back on the road and all is well.
I will be touring S Island from 27 Dec to 11 Jan (my christmas holiday from the office job in Auckland).
Have you asked Jose and Pilar who they airfreighted through?
Fern

Hi Fern,
Yes and a smile is really wide again
I try to be on South Island at the same time. Planning to tour in NZ for 3-4 months.
Jose and Pilar used Quantas. I have sent a quote request for Quantas and also Air NZ cargo (plus many others).
I think in next two weeks I need to decide how I want to ship my bike (by air or sea).
Hopefully see you in NZ

Thanks for posting this question - we just started to look for information as well.... keep us updated! We are planning to ship the bike to NZ in February.
From what we heard so far, it is not much cheaper by sea freight but much more hassle...

Hi Heike,
I will be in Sydney on Monday-Wednesday on coming week.
I will check few companies regarding crates and will see some freight forwarders to get quotes.
I will keep you posted of the outcome.
If things go well, I try to get there before Christmas and plan to stay around 4 months riding around

G´day!
Hey, have you asked Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics - worldwide ocean transport, inland services, supply chain solutions, terminal services jet?
It´s Roro and you don´t need a crate.
As we´ll ship our bikes from Brisbane to Auckland at the End of December we asked a lot of companys for quotes and it looks like the RoRo isn´t much more expensive and you don´t need to crate your bike.
We´ll keep an eye on your post as it will be interesting for us what you found out in Sydney, too.
Cheers from bloody hot Broken Hill

If QANTAS don't then Air New Zealand might

A google on 'Air New Zealand freight' turned up some interesting things .. including a firm that does cars, caravans to/from new zealand...

I checked several airlines, but all of them told me to contact freight forwarder.
I have now quotes going with Matzen Cargo and DB Schenker.
First information is that difference between flying the bike or shipping it is only few hundred dollars (will include more info as soon as I get their official quote).
Shipping might sound cheap, price around 400-500AUD, but this price does not include Harbour fees and then it will be around 1000-1100AUD.
In addition you should calculate hotel/motel/hostel stays etc...
