stuck in Te Anau / NZ - Honda TA clutch cable
we are on a christmas hollisay trip and our cluch cable broke on the Von Road. AA will get us to Te Anau, but no workshop is open today. Anyone in the area who might have a spare for a 2008 Transalp or one of those universal / fix it ones? cable came clean off the bolt on the leaver side. We are going to be out of reception soon, back online 7 pm NZ time.

Thanks everyone, it is looking better. Either a local biker has the right spare, or I will go with the HU approved mole grips version to invercargill to get me to a shop come monday. Till then, it seems, everything down here in the deep wild south is closed

ok, hese is what happend:
I posted in a local NZ forum as well as doing some boxing day phone calls. then we went out for a touristy thing for the day that we had booked earlier. when I came back, there were two old but good clutch cables behind my windscreen and a note on the NZ forum. A local biker rode 300km out of his way to drop me the parts.
after some careful work with a borrowed hacksaw, I got 10 cm of the funnel off and fitted on of the cables to my honda (i think its a part for a 450 Kawaski).
It works! so good in fact that this will probalby get us through our trip and back home, or at least to the next dealer that may have spares.
I love bikers, and I love NZ for the fact that you can get an AA tow over 100 km of gravel roads out in the middle of nowhere.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
