from Guatemala to Los angeles
Hello,
New on this forum. At this moment me and my girlfriend are in Nicaragua. We heard about the possibility to buy a motorbike in Quatemala. We are thinking about it to buy two 125cc bikes and ride it al the way up trough mexico to the states.
I red a few topics already on this forum. Can anyone tell me if there will be problems with insurances and take the bike over the borders?
We heard also that Antigua is the place to go for a second hand motorbike.
Hope anyone can help us! Thanks, Jef from Holland

It's pretty easy to buy a bike here in Guatemala: the paperwork for a used bike can be done in one day , it takes a bit longer for a new one because you have to wait for your license plate.
No insurance needed for Guatemala , the one for mexico and US can be bought online.
I would never buy a used small bike here in Guatemala , they all have been used and abused and hardly ever did they get proper maintenance.
In any case, the place to look for a bike is Guate City (3,5 million people), not Antigua (45000) .

Hoi Jef,
bel dit nummer in Guatemala and ik kan je advies geven. Koop niet zomaar een motor, dat kan je veel problemen geven. De onderhoud hier is niet altijd wat het moet wezen. +502 30093101

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
