Monimoto gps tracker questions
Anyone here used the Monimoto GPS - oops, typo on the title - motorcycle tracker anywhere in LATAM? Want to make sure it works with the included sim card anywhere in Mexico, Central or South America.
Not interested in changing sim cards to hopefully make it work in different countries.
Shipping my T7 to Colombia in February for a three month trip.
Thanks in advance.

Interesting. That info conflicts with the info on the home page that says it works around the world because of "embedded sim cards". And something about connecting to a 2G (2g still exists??) and LTE-M network, whatever that means....
I sent them an email. Will update if I get a response.
Thanks!

Edit. Got an email response that says it will work in Mexico, which actually is in the list. I missed it. Also maybe in some Central America countries but not reliably, and nowhere in Colombia, Boliva, Ecuador, or Peru.
I asked them why their home page says works globally. Their answer was that "globally" means in many countries around the globe, but not necessarily all. (Insert rolling eyes emoticon.)
Cheers. Guess I won't hit the buy button.

Ask them via their chat on their website. It was not supposed to work in North Africa, but I asked, and they said that it is actually working, as long as I don't stay for over a month per country.

Could only find an automated chat there. No real person. Asked via email that if I buy a local in country sim card, will it work. There's a statement about this on the website.
I'll update.

Just got this email. Contradicts previous emails I've gotten from them. Given the grammar, it's obvious it's come from somewhere in a non English speaking country.

Hi,
Thank you for contacting us. Are you owning one of the Monimotos already? It is all depends what kind of device you have.
So for this situation using MM6 with local 3G SIM card would be best option and Monimoto should work in South America

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
