Budapest to Split

Any recommendation on a route (road) to take? Also a place to stay.

I have two days to complete the trip.

Thanks!

Well, it's one long day's ride according to Google Maps (750 km, under 7 hours).

But if you have time to kill, then using the old method of Looking For Green Bits with White Squiggly Lines In Them, it seems that once you get past Zagreb, you've got the Zumberak-Samoborskoje Gorje national park right there. Then follow Croatian Route 23 as far as the coast, and hug the water all the way down to Zadar.

Once in CRO you can stop in Varaždin for a short brake nice small Baroque town. At Karlovac follow route to Plitvička jezera one of best National park in Croatia not to be missed you can camp there as well. On that route worth of stoping is Rastoke and Željava secret underground Airforce base now deserted.
If you need more info you can contact me anytime.
Have great ride

I really want to go look at that base, but the info I am seeing online seems to be: don't go without local guides, there are still minefields around. :\

Ah no problem you can go no problems stay on tarmac and you are fine, not advisable to wonder in forest since forest has not been checked for mines. You are fine to go there , there are many people even posting videos from there that Google Željava Airforce base

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
