Insurance in UK and Ireland
Hello all, I am a US citizen planning a 4 week trip to Ireland and the UK. I'm taking advantage of Air Canada's bike shipping special so I'll be temporarily importing my own bike. Finding temporary liability insurance is proving to be the biggest headache of the whole project. As I've never had any trouble at all getting insurance to bring my bike into Mexico, I naievely assumed it would be doable elsewhere. After extensive research I've come up empty handed. Does anyone know of a company that will issue a short term liability policy to a non citizen ? Thanks in advance.

Motorcycle insurance can be challenging even for citizens, at least in the UK. None of them want to touch us, despite it being legally required.
HU has a page on this - have you checked it? Motorcycle Insurance and United Kingdom links | Horizons Unlimited
There are a number of dedicated motorcycle insurers, some of which will provide it for non-residents. Good luck.

Thanks antipodean. Neither Bennetts nor Carole Nash will insure non citizens. I'm currently looking into the green card program through Motorcycle express. Hopefully I'll be able to answer my own question soon.

Get it from Dooby at Lobagola.
Lobagola - Border insurance
While I don't actually have my documents yet (Hello...Dooby) it is still plenty of time to get them.
My wife and I are shipping our 2 bikes to Ireland via Motorcycle Express. Lobagola has been great and very easy to work with. We're arriving in Dublin on July 14 ...see you there!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
