Norway ferry to start again in April 2014!
At last DFDS are resuming the ferry crossing from Newcastle-Stavanger/Bergen starting in April 2014. Two crossings a week low season and three in high season!
Reported in the Norwegian press today and I look forward to sailing to Norway again in late May!

I contacted DFDS about a possible crossing to Norway for next year & I was told there are no plans to restart this route.

Yes, lots of 'misinformation' on this crossing and after a press release in Norway last week it seems there isn't going to be a crossing anytime soon...............What a bummer!

I've heard about this nearly every year for the past 3, and it all seems to be the same press story being repeated year on year.
Fingers crossed this ferry re starts soon - it was an excellent route when it ran

Norwegian Seaways plans
Hey there!
Norwegian Seaways is still missing some funding for the reestablishment.
But they are very close to succeed.
All major newspapers in Norway were told about detailed plans, but they are all so eager for a new route in place that they forgot to keep their heads cool enough. What has been said is that they HOPE to raise a new link between Newcastle and Stavanger/Bergen in March/April 2014.

I was in contact with the people in charge, and they say that all which is missing is some millions... <--- ?! They have found a ferry for the project, but still the funding is incomplete. So, they are in desperate need of investors.
I was given an e-mail address for contact info if I can support with some funding, but since I ain't got a dollar................ I hope some millionaires out there can contribute

They want 30 Norwegian millionaires = 30M NOK, from a Norge population of about 10M isn't it?? (or is it 4M, I can't quite recall how many Norge there are!!)
Greater Stavanger
Footnote:
The pop of Norway is about 5M it transpires:-
https://www.google.co.uk/search?clie...hannel=suggest
On the other hand, the NOK is at a rate of about 9.9 to the £, so the hypothetical 30 contributors while being Norge millionairies do not need to be UK£ millionaires.
That's doable then, with the Norwegian oil wealth to hand.

To be honest, I didn't realise that the Ferry Crossing had stopped , until I was told about it in the Oslo Ferry Port last year. The reason, as I was told, was that the ships, themselves, had gotten too old, and that it would have been too expensive to maintain them, so the service was simply put-to-rest; the things you hear whilst on the road

Anyone riding Norway late May to early June 2014?
I am. Nothing crazy, don't need to touch the Nordkapp sign or anything. Was thinking a warmer and better weather SW loop from Oslo around to Stavanger/Bergen/Ocean Rd/Trondheim/Trollsteigen/Lyseboten and fitting in all the beautiful roads there over 2weeks.
Please let me know if u have any plans, routes, info, or if you are keen to join up.
I'm on a 2009 660z Tenere so good range and ability.
