See post #4 for details.
------------------------------------
Heike and Filippo Fania are hosting the 4th HU Switzerland Travellers Meeting from 18-22 Aug, 2022. If you've never been to it before, here's the nudge you need. It's the perfect microadventure or shakedown trip, especially if you're newer to motorcycle adventure travel. Invite a few friends to join you there.
We're back at:
Erlebnisbauernhof Campingplatz Gerbe
Gerbe 1, 6344 Meierskappel, Switzerland
GPS: 47.12121, 8.44578
It's a stellar venue in the heart of some beautiful riding areas.

Hi everyone,
As we tend to do on adventures, we have encountered unanticipated detours and uncertainties this year. Some re-routing is needed in order to find a new path forward. We understand that you may be wondering whether HU Switzerland is going ahead as planned, and how that may affect your own travel decisions.
We have been communicating with our local organisers and event venues, and monitoring regional and global developments, including travel bans and local restrictions on events. We had hoped that the corona-virus situation would be under control before July, but it doesn't look like it at all.
We are also aware that the HU demographic skews a wee bit older, and our deepest wish is that your well-being remains intact. There are also travel restrictions to and from Switzerland from various countries.
Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to POSTPONE HU Switzerland to August 19-22, 2021. That MAY change, and we will announce it by September if it does.
We appreciate that some of you will have made travel arrangements and incurred other costs, and we hope that you can change those plans.
If you want to keep your registration to the new date, we will carry it forward for you. No need to do anything. Carrying your registration forward will help us out a LOT. Thanks!
For refunds, PLEASE REPLY to your original Registration Confirmation email to make it easier for us to find, or if you can't do that, please email a request to: events-c (at) horizonsunlimited.com

Thanks for your understanding in this difficult time. Positive outcomes grow from staying true to what makes the global HU community special: inspiration, information, and connection through shared experiences, tolerance, and mutual kindness.
Please continue to listen to and follow the advice of your local health authorities. Stay healthy so that we can all catch up later.
Remember that worrying does lower your immune system, so don't binge on news. And most importantly - take care of yourself and your loved ones!
Virtual hugs from Grant and Susan and Heike and Filippo Fania, your HU Switzerland Event Organizers, and all the HU family,

HU Switzerland postponed to 18-21 Aug 2022!
Hi everyone,
We hope you are well and safe! We want you to know what we're doing and our status on this event.
As we have been doing for almost a year now, we have continued to communicate with our local organizers and event venues, and monitoring regional and global developments, including travel bans and local restrictions on events.
Everyone is excited about the COVID vaccines, and hopeful that they will allow a return to a connected world at some point. Although distribution is well underway in most developed countries, realistically it will be many months before enough of us have been vaccinated to allow all of us to feel safe to congregate in numbers again.
As we consider risks and impacts, we are aware that the HU demographic skews a wee bit older, and our deepest wish is that your well-being remains intact. We are also concerned that the small communities our events are held in have very limited medical resources, and we don't want to bring the virus to them with a large group of people from all over the world.
Last, and certainly not least, we are concerned about Heike and Filippo and the HU Switzerland organizing team who have to run it and keep people happy AND safe while staying safe themselves.
Thus we have reluctantly decided to postpone HU Switzerland to 2022. We are planning for 18-21 August 2022 (date TBC), and hope that by then COVID has become a flu-like nuisance rather than a life-threatening worldwide pandemic.
What about my event registration ?
No worries. We’ll honour it and roll it onward for 2022. Heike and Filippo and the HU Switzerland Team are eager to welcome you back to this fantastic event!
If you need a refund, we will provide it as soon as possible, but please be patient. For refunds, PLEASE REPLY to your original Registration Confirmation email to make it easier for us to find, or if you can't do that, please email a request to: events-c@horizonsunlimited.com
Still have questions? Email us at: events-c@horizonsunlimited.com
Thanks for your understanding in this difficult time. Please continue to listen to and follow the advice of your local health authorities. Stay healthy so that we can all catch up later.
We hope you enjoy the summer, ride as much as you can, and find loads of adventures in your own backyard. Take lots of pics and plan to tell some new stories at HU Switzerland 2022.
Again, thanks for your patience and stay well.
Grant and Susan

i plan to join
i would like to join but i don't have a tent and sleeping bag with me. i contacted the campground for accommodation and waiting for a reply.
i'm from California and riding in Europe on my silver Africa Twin since June 19th, and now in Vercours and heading to CH tomorrow, so i have a week to get there.
don't really want to buy a tent/sleeping bag and hopefully a B&B nearby.
looking forward to meeting more travelers.
joel
p.s.
last year i went to HU Romania and that was a good event. pretty sure the CH event will just be as good.

Hi Joel,
We are looking forward to meeting you at HU Switzerland.
Regarding accommodation, I can recommend https://www.bauernhof-rotkreuz.ch/
Hotel accommodation in Switzerland is expensive... You can get a room there for 87 CHF, and you can have breakfast at the campsite. I believe it is a good deal for Switzerland, and it is only 5 minutes by motorbike.
If you have any further questions, let me know!
Have a safe trip and see you soon!

Hi Joel,
You are right. There is no special discount. Sorry, I did not write correctly. It should say rooms FROM 87 CHF - i believe summer holiday season and high demand have pushed the prices up. Switzerland is expensive. You could check on Airbnb - or you might consider purchasing a sleeping bag (it is not cold, so a simple sleeping bag might be sufficient) and you can book sleeping in the hay in the barn or in a tipi tent on the campsite. I think for the tents they also offer camping beds.
Best,
Heike

Here is the group picture from this year's event!
As soon as Fabian has cut the video, we will also publish it.
Thank you for coming to HU Switzerland! It was great to be able to connect and meet again and to see so many happy faces despite the rain.
Hope to see you again next year!

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
