Anyone planning on taking the BRP south should know that it is CLOSED between Mt. Mitchell and Asheville.

Disappointed that there was no group rides as advertised !!!
Hey guys, just back from the 10th Anniversary H.U meeting in NC. Love the area, and as usual some great presentations, however I was quite disappointed when I asked about the dual purpose (off-road )group ride, I was told that they don't have any. " yes, I know that our web site says that we will be having group rides, but we don't. It is up to you to find other rides and ride with them."
Well, that sucks when you make to one of these events solo and knowing that most people like to ride "streets" only.
I manage to find another guy to go do some trails, but took a lot of effort to find someone and not as fun and having when you have to try to find roads to ride when you are not local.
Disappointed....

VERY sorry you were disappointed, but as posted on the webpage under the Ride info:
Sadly if no one steps up and volunteers, there's no ride leader.
To alleviate the problem, we have posted links to some info to help out on the page.
I do wish you'd come to me at the time and we might have made an announcement that you were looking for a ride partner or posted a sign etc. Please remember it's all volunteer run, and we rely on you and everyone else to always communicate - if we don't know you're unhappy we can't fix it. This is a "co-operative Community" of travellers that we try our best to bring together and enable connection and sharing.
Remind me well in advance next year to send out a reminder that we need a ride leader!
thanks, Grant

Soooooo sorry I missed this one. I am currently on an overland trip to Europe from North Carolina. I started out by Greyhound bus, switched to Amtrak and on Sunday I board a container ship for Hamburg, Germany. The object is to do the whole trip with as many forms of transport as I can without using planes.
No motorcycles involved, but may be an interesting "alternative" presentation for next year's meeting. I WILL be there!
Grand and Susan, I am so sorry that I missed seeing you two at the meeting. I hope you are both doing well!

Speaking just for myself, I thought this year's meeting was one of the best we've had. It was fantastic to have Grant and Susan back for the 10th anniversary, and what a wonderful group of presenters and attendees! I always find these events entertaining and inspiring.
Thank you all so much for coming and making this weekend so special. I hope to see all of you -- and a LOT of your friends -- at the 2014 NC meeting!

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
