Last Week and in June Orphanage in Vladivostok.

We've bought USD 2,,200 worth computers and printers for two poverty level kids in a small village.
Yuri is a 4th grade bouncy little girl,, great academic performance,, her mother has passed away, when she was one, her father left her ,, She grew up with her grand parents, who are living on government subsidy.
Gwan Sik is a junior at a science high school,, top ten of his class ,, good looking kid,,,, also lives with single mom and alcoholic grand dad in a shanty town.

When, Japanese Tsunami hit, we gave Japanese Red Cross USD 800.

When I saw a documentary, Child Slaves in India. We were so moved,, we sent USD 50,000 to Save the Children Fund field office.
Post 911 we sent USD 25,000 to Red Cross of NYC.

There were several other projects,, but I am really in to helping young kids.

I will be in Vladivostok ,, June 18 - June 21 ,, meeting up with Iron Angels to go to an orphanage, in Vlad ,, again we are making USD 2,000 donation for kids to buy books and school supplies. I hope this will help Korean - Russian bikers friendship. I am corresponding with Ash/Fred ,, if no results,,, will ask Yuri Melinkov to introduce one to us.

Joe

Please give Yuri Melnikov our very good wishes. He remembers me and Mark (Bushman) as being one of the longest stayers in Vlad (one month) owing to the fact that our bike was stuck on the inbound boat. We had many happy times with Yuri.

Good luck with the orphanage project - wish we could be there in June but this won't happen until next year when we pass back through Vlad.

The checks are cut for the Vlad orphange

They rather have furniture than cash.

Should be interesting.

Orphanage for the New Born and 3-5 Year Old Kids

Met with Iron Angels Moscow ,, had a party last night ,, met a German and a Kiwi couple, who has stayed at the Angels club house for four weeks. Headed out to Korea ,, got them a place to stay at my members camping, with full tent house near Sorak mountain and near the beach.
This morning we made a list of what the kids needed ,, went shopping.
Surprised at the cost of things in Russia 40% more than Korea, when their salary is 30% of Korea.
Beautiful kids ,, just born ,, orphans ,, saw a twin ,, so many beautiful children ,, got them enough supply of diapers and baby wipes for a year ,, some toys for 3 - 5 year old kids.

Russians are very proud people ,, more I get to know them ,, I find them better than whole shitload of Koreans and any others out there.
More pics at my web.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
