Three year UNESCO supported global educational project by motorcycle
Making a difference is certainly the dedicated theme of the DTMe ( Discover Through Me) project. The project is the brainchild of Swiss educator and adventure motorcyclist Jacques Albohair. I have been following the build up and trial of this project for two years, and in my opinion is one of the most important projects of it's type, as it's aim is to educate children about tolerance, undertanding and peace. Using an Internationally well known children's book ( The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry), which has been translated into more than 250 languages, Jacques is travelling to over 75 schools in 53 different countries, teaching the message of the book to children, and taking on from one school to the next the stories and pictures created by the children. The ''me'' in the project title is the child. The culmination of the project will be the production of an educational book, edited and supported by UNESCO; which will then be used globally in schools curriculum.
The release of the project was on 21st May, and there is a video explanation on his website. His website is full of information, and his personal background is as fascinating as the project itself.
Jacques is a regular visitor to the Horizons Unlimited meeting in France, and will be with us again this year in September to update us on the start of his journey in May 2016.
