Question Central Asia where to find hire or used buy?

Hi everyone.

I am planning a trip through Central Asia, within the lines of the image below, give or take:

Does anyone have any contacts or information on:
  1. where to buy a used motorbike;
  2. where to rent it; and
  3. where to store it until I return for later stages.

A nice alternative would be to have someone willing to agree on an "exchange bike program", where I would make my Portuguese bike available on this side.

The countries involved are:
  • Kazakhstan,
  • Uzbekistan,
  • Tajikistan,
  • Kyrgyzstan

Thank you for your help.
All the best from sunny Portugal.
José

As for renting, you have a few options:
Sambor, Marat or Patrick should be able to help you in Bishkek, Almaty and Osh...

I shipped my bike from Europe to Central Asia with Sambor two times and everything was ok.

Marat helped me repairing my bike in Charyn Canyon and he did great

I don't know personally Patrick but nobody told me bad things.

They all write here on the hubb, mostly in the Northern Asia section, which actually is the right one even for this topic:-)

You are right. I was unable to transfer it to another section. Please excuse me for the mishap.

Thank you for letting me know on your experience with Marat. It has been helpful.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
