Riding gear for Tunisia/Morocco
Hey everyone, I will be riding in Tunisia/Morocco November-April and would appreciate some advice on riding gear. As I am hoping to ride the coastal regions, deserts and mountains, I'll be in many different climate zones. Does anyone have any advice as to what jacket and pants would work best for mainly warm riding but some cold stints too? As I type this I realise it sounds pretty ridiculous, but is there any system where I can layer when required, so I can have my cake and eat it too? Thanks everyone.

I use good quality jeans with armour and thermals under if its cold.
Also some gortex lightweight over trousers and jkt,
I find this perfect for me... as jeans are nice to wear in the heat

Klim Carlsbad is relatively light weight construction and has multiple vents you can open. These make it a reasonably good hot weather suit, and when it's cold you just layer up underneath. Worked for me this year heading down through a cold northern Europe into a super hot Turkey.

You could well experience 30ºC shade temperature plus a hot sun, but generally it will likely be a bit cooler, and much cooler at altitude. In winter time it doesn't matter too much, but I avoid black clothing due to solar gain. If I am cold I can always put on layers, but if I'm overheating there's not much I can do other than to soak my gear in water for the evaporation effect.
And I never understood the thought process from BMW and others behind having a waterproof layer *under* the outside textile gear.
So my preference is for unlined well-ventilated lightweight 'air' type jacket and trousers in silver or light grey. On cold days I can always wear thermal long johns underneath, use an electric jacket, or put waterproofs on top.
Though I do admit to also riding offroad in shorts and t-shirt on tracks I know well

Great photo, Tim! If only YOU were in the air along with the dogs it’d be perfect.

I have used a bmw jackets for many years and find them perfect .
OK if its a down poor all day i use an additional layer on top . but the idea is the out side will dry as you ride into the sunshine ! and when its too warm , just remove the inner gortex.
Better still dont ride if the weather is too bad , unless you have to
