Western Sahara Maps and places of interest

Can anyone advise me on a good Western Sahara map, if one exists

I have a few Moroccan maps with basic WS map and a few downloaded maps but nothing that detailed

Also anything worth seeing?

Cheers

There is plenty of nice desert to see in W. Sahara. Some resources from this forum and beyond:

As far as maps go, we resorted to the usual suspects - Michelin, Rough Guide Map, Google Earth and Olaf for the GPS.

There are French 250ks from the 60s-80s which got right down to the Mori border and have similar detail to IGNs. But of course on the Moroccan side a lot has happened since then, including landmines as mentioned above.

Scroll down to the bottom:
'French 1:250k (1960/80? - CD, paper)'
IMO only worth bothering with if you are serious about exploring outback WS, but then again the regular modern maps are pretty skimpy down there. Might be worth having a look at TPCs, too.

I like very much Russian maps. You can buy them here Download Western Sahara topographic maps - mapstor.com

They are more recent than the French ones (80´s/90´s).

Don´t forget that this territory is dangerous because of the mines and other explosive artifacts. Every year there are fatal accidents (take a look at the MINURSO reports). You must keep always on used pistes and forget the ancient ones unused and off-piste.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
