Overland buggy

Hi I'm thinking of building a offroad buggy out of car parts and though it would be cool to travel South America with. If I have a v5 log book and all matching numbers ect would I be able to use a home made vehicle in all South American country's ?
Something like this
Joyrider sport factory built buggy ready to drive any engine, fiat 900cc upto 2000cc on & off road driving, complete with full roll cage

read a website about a couple who built a buggey and did a rtw trip but can't find it now. Thiers was more like the SVA fugitive buggies so a bit larger.

My concern would be comfort and weather proofing, dust rain and cold would make life pretty tough if you couldn't keep it out.

Always though the LOcal Motors Rally Fighter would make an interesting build for an overland vehicle

Do you mean by having a V5 log book , that the "buggy" would be road legal in UK , as its not just a matter of building something, as there are requirements as to its origin , these are covered by in many cases having to submit the vehicle for IVA testing .
If the vehicle has been recognised in a country that should be adequate
for acceptance as allowable on the road in any other country , as most of the rules are UN agreed standards . That is somewhat of a simplification
but should give you the general gist of things

obviously not an overland motor biker..

like anything, simply dressing for the weather, makes the difference between enjoyment or being miserable

Your quite right, I prefer to travel with the correct number of wheels. Hence the post in the 4 wheels section

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
