A kite is a good start

I was thinking someone on here might have something to upload...
Wouldn't it be a good idea bring one to Tibesti?

I have been in touch several times with George Steinmetz, the National Geographic photographer who did all those fantastic aerial photos of the Sahara from a powered paraglider, trying to set up an Expedition to Uweinat. The problem is that given the sensitivity of all light aircraft to wind, he typically had to wait 2 weeks in a spot to get one good hour of flying... Imagine having one of those in the Tibesti...

A little bit of blunt & blatant advertising:

Hi Priffe,

the are a "lot of older videos" like:
Unsere Erde – Der Film – Wikipedia

also Luc Besson (France):
Home (2009 film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nice to view, no Tibesti, but Sahara.

Hi, having seen a drone at the HUBB and being mightly impressed, I brought one, a Phantom 2 with a GoPro, it is a stunning bit of kit.

The last week has been a really steep learning curve.

I've been looking for one that will follow you (or the controller) but there doesn't seem to be anything on the market yet.

The only way to do it would be to custom program one.

We have also travellers here at HuBB, wo got arrested in egypt for a while.

Both travellers had traveled through lybia, run into trouble at the bordercrossing to egypt because of a Drone.

It was a tini DJI Phantom Quadcopter, nothing huge....

Here is a translated Newspaper article about

https://translate.google.ch/translate?sl=de&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=de&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.blick.ch%2Fnews%2Fausland%2Fs chweizer-in-aegypten-wegen-drohne-verhaftet-id2447175.html&edit-text=

They got deported to their homecountry, they can`t go back to egypt in their live.

They are too on Hubb:

You should consider that you "can" run into trouble, with such devices.

But I love that kind of pictures too, thinking about to get a Drone with me, for my planned Panamericana...

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
