good bmw shop in Merida, Mexico
I was recently in Mexico enroute to Cuba on the Stahlratte, starting from Nova Scotia. I carried down a couple 50/50 tires from Arizona not knowing what I would find in Mexico and knowing I wouldn't find anything in Cuba.
I got a 20,000 km service done in Merida for half the price it would have cost in Canada, at a bona fida BMW bike dealership. And I found out I could have got tires there too for my 700 GS as they sell them. Anyway I got my tires changed there for a great price.
I will follow-up with contact info but for now it is called Aleka Moto and it is on the road from Merida to Progresso, a little closer to Progresso and on the right side heading from Merida. Friendly, competent people. I also got a hell of a deal on a Nolan helmet that was too big for another customer.

BMW service in Merida.........
Hi Larry,
Thanks for the post. My wife and I are currently in Campeche, Mexico, and I was looking for a BMW service place in Merida and there was your post. We too are from Canada (Kelowna, B.C.) and hooking up with Ludwig on the Stahlratte for a Jan. 20th departure to Cuba.
I googled Aleka Motor Merida but, until I read your post, assumed they were in Merida not halfway to Progresso. I'll find them for sure and will have a few things done on my '07 R1200 GSA.


We're really looking forward to riding Cuba but I guess our lunch with Fidel has been dashed lol )


Thanks again for your good positive information on Aleka Motor Merida.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
