Help with Asia - Europe border crossings???
Hello all,
I am planning a trip from India to Switzerland via motorcycle, just wanting to check these border crossings to see if there will be any problems, i will be travelling on a carnet with a Australian registered motorcycle.
Below are the borders i would like to know of any issues i may face>
India – Bangladesh
Bangladesh - India
India- Nepal
Nepal- India
India- Pakistan
Pakistan- Afghanistan
Afghanistan- Tajikistan
Tajikistan- Kyrgyzstan
Kyrgyzstan- Kazakhstan
Also i am wanting to enter in Afghanistan using the Wakhan corridor, can this route be accessed via Pakistan?
And also what are the best detailed maps i can get for this part of the world, preferably including minor and unsealed roads?, and where is the best place to buy them from?
All your replies are much appreciated and will be very helpful
Thank you.

I can't help with any knowledge on your stated route, but I am sorry to be the bringer of bad news. Kazakhstan has no border with Switzerland.
There will be a minimum of at least 2 more full borders (Russia and Shengenland) with varying Visa requirements - but probably more borders/visas likely if you chose the more southern and direct route.

India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan should all be do-able, if you´ve got the carnet.
And between Europe & India, the two main overland-routes go around Afghanistan via the north or the south. Northern route requires entering China, a subject you´ll need to study carefully and decide, have you got the money & patience. And it´s not a year-round route.
Going through Afghanistan would be too risky business for me, but maybe you are more brave than I.

I think you dont have any experience for long distance international riding so I certainly recommend you the main roads from India to EU.
That route ends in Mid Asia not Mid Europe.
lets keep in touch if you will be in Turkey for more information and supports.
Wish you all the best.
zeki.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
