Motorcycle rental in Melbourne,Australia
I wanted to take a motorcycle trip to Australia with my wife this April. For 2-4 weeks it would be easier and cheaper to rent, not ship a bike. I saw Garners site in Melbourne. It looked good with many rental choices. It seems to be a large dealership. It looked like it would cost me $2500-4000 to rent. I sent an email to rentals@garnersmotorcycles.com.au. The only email address shown on there site. I had specific questions I wanted answers to. After 4-5 days without a response I sent another email.. Finally I got some answers. So,the next day I had several more questions. Now it's been 2 weeks and no response.
I think I've given up on going to Australia.I was borderline on going half way around the world to tour anyway.
If I have this much trouble trying to rent a bike, how much trouble would I have with any mechanical problems.

I will look at these sites. I have seen some of them. Not many places rent bikes with panniers and top box. Garners has a great site. They show bikes, equipment, prices. Too bad they don't have customer service that responds.

Buy one !
Looking at rental prices, deposits and the inevitable extras
At over $800 per week for 4 weeks is $3200 not to mention the extras. I think you are better off buying one, if you cant find something cheap and reliable in the link below your not trying hard enough.

Selling it ought not be that hard and if it doesn't sell wander into the nearest pub find the best looking girl you can (or guy depends on which team you're batting for) and just hand over the keys, (been there done that) you'd be surprised how well this will go down! And it would still be cheaper than hiring a bike!

My trip is off for at least a year. My wife is having back problems that will require surgery. I guess it will give me time to do better research.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
