Stockholm-Bangkok
I have been planning for over 6-7 years but still have not got the chance to excute. Probably because its going to be a long, expensive and difficult overland expedition to do. Did a similar trip 11 years ago but went via pakistan ,India ,Nepal then shipped the bike to Bangkok. This time I want to drive all the way via Pamir Highway to Mongolia and China down to South to SE Asia ....
Pleased to get comments and if anyone has had similar trip planned or wants to plan with me. Not sure when I am going but in a couple of years.

Your Route looks very nice!
Dont wait too long - if it is your dream..
Suddenly Kids, Career, Income or Corona could kill all the planning stuff.
I did a transafria, parts of southamerica and also did start recently to plan on the Transsibiria and/or Silkroad.
We are watching carefully, guess even the blue route (with one Visa) - is at 2021 probably not doable because of Covid:
If you watch all these Tripplanning and Rapports here - most of us are starting alone. Some of us wil find someone on the way to spend some miles and days - probalbly weeks.
But I did never saw a big trip "get together" starting from planning till end of trip.

Very interesting!
Living 60 k north of Stockholm, I have been thinking of a trip like that for years.
Done a few long trips in Europe, including a long one thru east Europe in the eighties, before the wall went down.
Also worked in a lot of strange countries, so I know that different cultures is interesting and fun.

Awesome!
Im planning a trip myself by motorcycle.
From Sweden to Thailand and further on eventually.
For now I have a different route, but yours are very interesting.
The only problem i see for me more than COVID-19 is the China part..
It is really hard to find information of how to travel there. And it is pricey because you will need a guide.
Im planning to go in 2022.
But im all up for exchanging ideas for planning, even go together some parts of the journey.

Go for it!!!
Hi
We are 2 childhood friends from Norway that have been planing and prep for a motorcyclke ride from Norway to New Zealand since 2016. We are just about to leave. Plan was to leave last year, but ofc corona and things has changes in a few places we planned to ride. So the plan is to try to start May 2022 from Ålesund city in Norway, ride to the North Cape, and then start south from there. Plan is to ride down south and into Russia, and ride Kasakstan, Kirgistan, China, Nepal, India, Mayanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand. Ofc a few places we have to skip due to some izzues in some places like Mayanmar etc.
Feel free to contact us, and let us know about your plans
GO FOR IT!!!!!
Best regards

Hi there,
I'm Harald and I am currently planning the same thing, I will try to start in spring 2023 if Covid allows it ??
I live in South Germany near swiss border, this is exactly on your route.
I want to go to Australia, but I also want to go via Bangkok, the Pamir Highway is important to me, and then at first I thought of shipping the bike from Vladivostok to Bangkok, but then I found a Chinese agent and they give overlanders a good price for the ride from Mongolia to Laos, if there are 6 vehicles in a group.
This is the better option as you don't have to wait 4-6 weeks to get your bike back and that`s cheaper then the shipment.
I have a business in Bangkok for over 30 years, so I know this area very well and have also spent a lot of time in Indonesia.
I hope you still have this idea and I can find out what your plans are currently?
best wishes
Harald

@Kebabtomten
If you or superliquidsoap get to Thailand and you get around Chum Phae then let me know in advance, I don't have a lot but you are welcome to rest up for a night/stop for a brew.
I am retiring mid 2022 so I should be about

Hi Harald,
just out of curiousity - the agent said it would be possible to transit China this year (2022)?
Thanks and cheers,
Benjamin

Hi Harald, I'm looking at a trip in 2023 from London to Malaysia (where I am from). China has been a pain to plan to get through and I would love the information of your agent. Can I ask how much and how long and any information you have on the Mongolia to Laos part through China?
Thanks

I like the area. Just somewhere in the province or near the town of Chaiyaphum? I am right at the northern edge of the province.
