UK to Aus. Possible?
OK, I know this might be viewed as one of those tyre threads, but I was wondering if, now that things are settling down Covid-wise, how feasable is UK to Australia?
I am very keen to see the 'Stans' and the Ladakh and not that interested in China and obviously not Russia (never have been as it happens) and would love to see something of south east asia as well.
I've done several trips to southern and eastern Africa, South America and New Zealand so am not new to extended travel and could afford to overfly the impossible once or twice on a trip and could take six to eight months out to do the journey.
Any major problems doing this other than finding the cash?

The problem is that Myanmar borders are still closed. If you can find a way around that it shouldnt be any major problems…. Maybe Iran is still a problem for UK/US citizens?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, Iran impossible for us Brits AFAIK. I also looked at the weather and the time we could reasonably go, and it looks like I would have to stop work for too long to do the trip unless I was prepared to accept the stupid cost of doing this, so we have decided to go back to South America and do a 'Long Way Up' but without the wanky leccy bikes starting November 2023. This will work for us and our working season and we will be able to take four or five months to do the trip (yes, longer would be better but..) and will hopefully allow us to have reasonable weather for the whole run.

You don't say what months you can travel in but heading off to India is best done around the start of September if you are going Turkey, Iran, Pakistan to get there. I thought Iran was possible for Brits with a guide and you could try and team up with others to share the cost, from India you would have to ship or fly to SE Asia or straight to Australia, Myanmar was only open for a few years and this is what people, myself included did prior to that.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
