I hope I'm in the good place for this thread, if not I'm sorry, apologizes.

We (my gf and I) planned a world tour with our Honda XRV650 and we should be in SEA about the end of this year.
But seeing the new regulations rules in Myanmar/Thailand and restrictions in Vietnam we're thinking about to ship/air freight our bike directly from India or Nepal to Australia.

So first question : any information about the best/cheapest way to do this ?

Obviously, we would prefer to send our bike to Malaysia or Indonesia to be able to travel theses countries with our bike and then send it to Australia but as far as I know it will be really really expensive to make two different shipments. Can someone confirm this ?

Also, we don't want to avoid visiting Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam (maybe with used and local bikes), so we're looking for our XRV storage solution during about 1 or 2 months.

Anyone have any helpful information about this ?

I have no personal experiences with shipping that stretch but all Ive read indicates that shipping from Nepal instead of India os the most conveniant way to do it.
But you should also consider riding through Myanmar and Thailand, form a group and the costs will go down drastically.

From Malaysia to Australia you will actually need two shipments more if you want to ride through Indonesia, namely Malaysia to Indonesia and East Timor (or Indonesia) to Australia.

Noth shippings are reltively easy and have been done by hundreds of travellers so it shouldnt be any problem for you.
Malaysia to Indonesia - often used shipping are Mr Lims onionboats from Penang to Belawan, or another option is a passanger ferry from Port Klang that can fit a bike or two on the crossing.
Q more adventorous route is to get over to Borneo from mainland Malaysia and then cross into indonesian Borneo (Kalimantan) and there there are several ferries to Java, Sumawesi etc - so possible to go that way too.

From East Timor to Darwin is the other shipping, done by hundred of travellers so not difficult. Other options are flying the bike from Jakarta or Bali to Australia. But I read a horror story about a guy who in the end needed to build his own crate for the bike in Bali as nobody there were able to do that.

We are going to use a shipping company from Darwin to Dili in the next few weeks. We're in contact with alzira.layleong@bollore.com Alzira is very helpful with quotes and getting information. We have three choices of shipping, container, crate or ride on. Tho you don't actually ride it on yourself

There may be other options of shipping, not just a well established company. If I hear of any I'll try to let you know.

how did it go and how much did you pay?

I'm also in contact with them right now. but it seems I have to take a whole container for my bike, which is more than 2000$ !
