Acc. in Syria, Jordan, Turkey... ?
We will be travelling overland from France to Jordan (Amman) through Hungary, Romania, Turkey, Syria and, of course, Jordan. :-)
Do you have any up to date GPS waypoints of recommended accomodation en route?
Campsite or hostel - should be clean and, if possible, with a safe parking for the bikes. The cheaper and nicer the better! :-)
GPS waypoints most welcome as we propably will arrive by night sometimes and a GPS makes it a lot easier to find :-)
If you don't habe a GPS waypoint but can recommend anyway - just feel free - it'll help us a lot!
Thank you so much!

I did get a response, BUT...
It was a GPS file with places to sleep, not to STAY. So after having been misguided to parking spaces for truck drivers we deleted the file on our GPS...
Sorry, can't help you!

I don't have a record of all the places where I stood during my trip to Syria and Jordan of August 2008, but I remember this:
HOTEL MANDALOUN
Aleppo, Syria
:: Mandaloun Hotel-Restaurant :: Contact Us
The service was near to perfect, our motorcycles were parked just in front of the entrance for two nights (and guarded) + it's at walking distance from the important and touristic places of Aleppo.
If I remember well, the price was Euro 40.00 for a very nice two-bed room with air conditioning.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.

I will recommend you to check Andon's webpage who was here last month.
(CapeTown-İstanbul trip. 34680 km. 306 days.)
Pages from istanbul back to jordan with photos will be very useful to you as they are up to date and with details.
best wishes

40 euros a night in Syria is luxury indeed; was it the Ritz?

This post is quite a few years old now and some things will have changed and of course there is covid but many people here myself included have made that trip without major problems and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I suggest you take a look through ride reports and the sections relating to your route to get an idea of what is involved, hopefully things will get back to something closer to normal next year and you will be able to make your trip.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
