Leaving your bike in Argentina...
Axel_88,
We have been parking motorcycles for foreigners in Argentina since 2006. Each was able to obtain an 8 month temporary vehicle import permit (TVIP) at the border, airport or dock issued upon request. No one that we have parked has ever been refused an 8 month TVIP.
The aduana (customs) does not indicate in your passport that you have entered with a vehicle, and you can exit the Argentina legally by air, sea or land without your motorcycle. It is necessary to return before the TVIP expires and exit your motorcycle prior to the expiration of your 8 month TVIP.
There have been rumors that customs is cracking down on multiple requests for serial 8 month TVIPs, but I have no documentation. Many foreigners, living in Argentina with their vehicles simply leave the country, leaving their vehicle with an 8 month tVIP, and return each 3 months - 3 months is the maximum issued for a tourist visa, 8 months for a TVIP.
