Never seen a SOAT here for less than 12 months (COP$627k / US$162), unless it comes under the classic or antique category of vehicles.

That said...

I live and ride in Colombia, so my bikes are registered here, so never needed a shorter duration SOAT.

Maybe someone that has crossed the border into Colombia can shed some light on a shorter duration SOAT.

Anything above 200cc is the same price right now.

e.g. My KTM 390 ADV is at COP 627K

Precio del SOAT Motos 2022
Ciclomotores = $200.564
Motos con cilindraje inferior a 100 C.C = $414.884
Motos con cilindraje entre 100 y 200 C.C = $556.700
Motos con cilindraje superior a 200 C.C = $627.684
Motocarro, Tricimoto, Cuadriciclos = $627.684

soat

I just looked into the taxes that I have to pay on my f700 its 444,000.00 pesos yearly plus SOAT technical inspection and Runt it is 1.3 million a year
so SOAT is not all too pricey

I bought a SOAT in Colombia 1 month ago for 3 months in Cartagena. Actually the person who did all the paperwork for me when my bike from The Netherlands arrived bought it. First she insisted me to buy one for 6 months and but then also 3 months was possible. I think some insurance companies sell only for 6 or 12 months only and others also for 3 months.

She bought it at Previsora seguros.

I just renewed my SOAT in Medellin - 12 months was the only available option.

Might be different elsewhere…..

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
