Hey Luca, you can get your yellow card insurance from 'Ethiopian Insurance Corporation' at the southern end of Gambia St. Map - https://www.google.com/maps/ms?msid=...01102,0.016716

Safe travels

Maybe they moved: we got our Comesa Yellow Card today at the Ethiopian Insurance Corporation at their office. This is easy to find in Gambia Street, just opposite the RAS Hotel. We paid 1000 Birr per bike for 2 months.
Good luck,
Stefan

You don't need the Comesa yellow card for Ethiopia. Supposedly you need Ethiopian mandatory 3rd party insurance, but likely nobody will ever check. If you continue to other countries, it makes sense to get a Comesa card. It extends your Ethiopian insurance to cover other african countries. This is usually cheaper than buying new insurance as you go. Comesa is the African equivalent of the european green card.

Shop around, I paid 250 Birr for a full year coverage of all african Comesa countries except Egypt, Sudan and DRC, which I had already been to.

Yes, you don't need a third party insurance in Ethiopia, but if you're heading south on the east route, it's the cheapest country of getting an insurance AND the Comesa Yellow Card.
Sirakor, it would be helpful for followers to post where to find your mentioned cheap insurance office in Addis Abeba. Thanks
Stefan

I bought the insurance in Bahir Dar. I forgot the name of the company, but its close to the roundabout in front of the big orthodox church. Take the north exit of the roundabout, the insurance office is the second or third building on the right handside on the first floor. Sorry I cant be more precise than that, I usually dont keep track of paperwork stuff ... I'll dig out the name of the company next time I need the Comesa card (not with me right now).

Addis and COMESA

I arrived in Ethiopia from Sudan with no insurance (I forgot about it at the border) but have just got yellow card cover for Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zam and Zim for me and my motorbike for 2 months at the equivalent price of twenty quid.

Ethiopian Insurance Corp is pretty easy to find, it pops up as the head office on google maps, although the relevant office in there is less so (turn left before the front door and go up a few steps, they have a COMESA poster pasted to a pillar so you know you're in the right place).

Comesa Yellow Card costs

Hello AlexPB,
it would be interesting for us how much you have paid for the insurance. We also want to start a journey from Addis in September 2018 and we will need je Comesa Yellow Card.
Thanks in advance,
Stefan
