Uganda/Rwanda motorbike rental?
Dear all,
Does anyone have a legid company where one could rent a motorbike to tour Uganda and/or Rwanda?
Furthermore, does anyone have experience with such company or such an (organized) trip?
Thank you!

Hey Donkey, maybe you ask these guys:
http://www.ugandamotorcycleadventure.com/
Or on FB uganda motorcycle adventure.
Do not know whether they're hiring bikes, but they where very helpful to me when asking for tips for my bike trip through uganda.
I am still planning and will go down to start in Kenya in June 2017.
Cheers Carsten

Private hire of bikes
Hi Donkey
Not sure if it's too late for you but a friend and I are going to Uganda next week, hiring two bikes from a Boda boda driver and touring for two weeks.
It is a private arrangement I made over the phone without ever having been to Uganda or having met the person we're going to deal with so I don't know how it will turn out. Hopefully it'll all be good. It'll certainly be an adventure.
I can let you know the details when I come back if you like?

You can rent Kawasaki KLRs and Suzuki 650 V Stroms from Tomoto Tours in Nairobi. A friend and I are currently riding with the owner, Tony Oyier, through Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania. He's a good guy and will either rent or guide. We're in Kigali now and are heading into Tanzania tomorrow.

Got back last week from Uganda after riding 100cc Bajaj Boxer boda bodas around for two weeks. Covered over 1600 kms without the bikes missing a beat. More than half of total distance on dirt roads.
We got our bikes from a guy called Ssemanda Charles - a genuinely good bloke. Very very reasonable rates. You can call him on +256 752161840
Tell him Ron from England recommended him.

Hi cliffdanger
We paid $300 (US) for the two bikes for two weeks. Can't get better than that really.
If you are interested, ring Charles - he's a good bloke. +256 752161840
All the best.

Hi Lorraine
If I understand correctly you bought that bike. How complicated and time consuming is the process to register a motorcycle for a foreigner?
I am planning a 3 weeks trip in Uganda and Rwanda.
Thank you

Sorry for the delay Antonello!
The process to transfer ownership of a motorbike/vehicle is straightforward. You get the registration papers/log book from the previous owner, a letter requesting a search for the vehicle number, and a photocopy of your ID. Go up Jinja Road and make a right turn at Spear Motors. It’s a big auto dealership. Up the hill on the right side there’s a government building, the revenue service. Stand in a queue/line, to verify ownership and to transfer into your name. You’ll be asked to go to a bank, pay a fee, the bank gives you a form, take the form back to the office. They give you your new registration.
You can also get a police check done beforehand to see if it's stolen or has violations. That's done downtown at the big police headquarters on the second floor.
If there’s no problems, it takes 24 hours or less. NOT a complicated process, very similar to other countries.

Thank you Lorraine!
Very helpful info, it reassures me.
I am in contact with a guy who is willing to rent (or as second choice sell) his 250cc Honda. I am now trying to clarify if I will have problems to enter Rwanda on a rented bike. Depending on that, I will either rent it or follow your instruction to buy and register the motorcycle.
In any case I will keep an eye on the sales section in case something doesnt go as I expect with the guy I'm in contact with.

Bike rental Uganda
Hello!
Me and my wife are now back after 3 weeks in Uganda and Rwanda at a BMW 1200GS rented at Uganda Motorbike Adventure https://www.facebook.com/ugandamotorcycleadventure/ and we are very pleased with the bike and the service.
We had a wonderful experience of those two countries.
