Volunteering in Africa

Hi everyone

We are traveling through Africa right now (in Morocco at the moment) and like to do some volunteering work along the way (eco-projects, building, gardening, environmental projects,...). Tips and recommendations are very welcome for Senegal, Gambia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Cameroon, anywhere. Please let us know!

Thanks in advance!

The Lisa Kent Trust is an educational charity working in The Gambia, which runs two nursery and primary schools. It is currently starting two building projects, but regularly has visiting volunteers, who support school building maintenance, assist the teachers, work in local medical centres. You will be made most welcome.
See their website for more information The Lisa Kent Memorial Trust | Sponsor | Children | Support Education or email liz@lisakenttrust.org
Enjoy your travels

I came across this organization i n Côte d'Ivoire when doing route and visa research for my upcoming ride down the west coast.

I'm sure they would love the help or at the very least a mention on any social media site that would help further their cause.

I've known the director of CREER for many years. She speaks fluent French and English, and can be trusted. Google or Facebook and inquire ahead of your arrival.

Hope that's helpful.

New to Horizons Unlimited?

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
