Did it show/promote motorcycling in a positive way and in the main stream media? I think it did
I have upmost respect for any racer whatever the discipline but the IOM TT always results in the fatalities being broadcast over mass media this and the general stupidity broadcast over you tube paints motorcycling as a brainless and dangerous past time to the general public. Negative media changes general opinions of our much loved past time.
Descisions are made and laws are passed and all the time our past time gets put in the firing line.
David Beckham maybe privaledged but I'm not. No matter how hard the everyday biker tries to promote biking in a positive way we can never hope to reach mass audiences, so well done to the celebraties that do.
If it changes just a few small minded people high up then it could pay dividends later on.
As for advertising his range of jackets? I don't think judging by the prices that the clothing range is aimed at mere mortals so he would probably better hosting a celeb bash if that was his goal as his celeb chums could actually afford and want his endorsed gear!
No matter who the true heros of biking are, you will never generate any interest in the likes of Nick Sanders or Austin Vince and all the other great adventurers to non bikers without first wetting their appitities with the likes of Ewan, Charlie and now Beckham.
The future for Roads in the majority is safety, motorcycling just doesnt fit into any of the future plans, are motorcycles really going to be allowed to tear about amoungst highways full of driverless vehicles?
Whatever hope motorcycling has can only be helped with more understanding and if that comes from ventures such as Beckhams well I couldnt give a monkeys. Because everyday extra I get to jump on my bike is a bonus

What we ride today will most likely be banned from use on the road within the next 30 years at most probably far sooner.
Who knows in 2042 we might still be able to have meets and ride our heavily resticted e bikes around a safety controlled closed circuit! The future probably aint bright so enjoy every ride.
