Just bought a copy from Amazon UK, so looks like you'll be sending another one out! Let's hope you don't run out before my order gets to you!

Thanks for the encouragement. Hey I bought new action camera today, a lot lot better than the contours I used. This is quality stuff, almost as good as my big camera. Impressed. sony unit with image stabiliser .. oh I've gone into trainspotting mode a bit

Hi!
great vid!
what's the camera that you bought
a sony action camera?

...wow- just saw the trailer for them. I have a couple of contours ( we spoke about them) & was just wondering if the helmet mounts etc are any better than contour?

£350ish?

The contour is great idea, especially the rotating lens thingy but the poor fittings let them down.

The Sony doesn't have the same lens flexibility but this is minor compared to the quality of image (stabilised) and fittings etc. Because it uses standard tripod screw thingy you can fit it to loads of accessories. I have the rubber ball thingies which can be fitted in various locations and clamp the standard camera to, much better solution. When I set off the contour was fine but after some use the fittings started to provide a rattle, so much so it ruined a lot of footage. I ended up carrying it in my hand, not the best solution but sort of worked.

I haven't lived with the Sony for long so will know much later. I particularly like the push on and immediate filming, what I don't like is, you can bump the switch and you are never sure if its recording or not if its on helmet. I've already got some footage of wrong things because I'd pushed off when I thought it already off or visa versa. Apart from that I think its a lot better. Oh the app thing for iphone works a lot better and you can use it to control the camera as well, so if you really want to, you can place phone in front and use that to switch on and off.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
