For Sale - KLR650 Full Adventure Kit incl. Safari Tank - UK
Hi,
I am currently riding a 2011 KLR650 from Malaysia to London. The bike has sustained some bodywork damage during the ride (to put it lightly), which makes shipping the bike back home to New Zealand at the end of the ride financially unviable. In order to get my carnet discharged I will need to have the bike scrapped, but am looking to sell all the bits and pieces that make it what it is. It is a fully equipped bike, including:
- 40L Safari Fuel Tank - gives 700-800km range when full, replaces fairings and protects radiator. Translucent so you can always see how much fuel you have. When not full keeps the weight of the fuel lower, improving balance.
- Pannier racks and panniers - metal, 35L each. A bit dented but I'm sure in the right hands they could be good as new again.
- Pelican case on the rear, drilled to bolt onto the stock rear rack
- Fork brace
- Handlebar risers
- Renthal fat bars
- Enduro engineering handlebar guards
- Progressive springs in the front
- Happy trails metal skid plate and engine guard (including highway pegs)
- Cycleworks exhaust (sounds great, and is much lighter than stock)
- IMS Superstock pegs (wider, makes standing for long periods much easier)
- Elongated shift pedal to accomodate wider pegs
- Possibly a Giant Loop Fandango Pro tank bag (undecided if I will keep this or not)
- Stiffer spring on the rear shock
All parts are in working order, but somewhat dirty/scratched in keeping with the trip they have done. This would definitely suit someone who has a new KLR650 they want to take touring but don't want to buy everything individually. There are probably some other bits I have forgotten as well.
Price negotiable - send me a PM
I will be arriving in London around the 4th of November, and would like to get rid of the bits as soon as possible after this as I need to leave back home on the 15th of November.
Any queries just ask.
Cheers,
Mike

I hope you do find people wanting these parts but chances are slim as this bike was never sold in UK, and they are as rare as hens teeth... you'd be more likely to find someone who would take on the whole bike to repair. Is the frame bent or engine damaged? If not cosmetic damage is not the end of the world.
It only cost me £580 to ship my bike door to door from Queenstown to Norfolk uk by ship this year.., is it not worth it and try doing it up at home back in NZ?

Hi Fern,
Actually since the first post I've had to weld the frame in 3 places as it completely snapped in 2 places in the Bartang Valley, so not the best bike to be repairing for anyone. Who did you ship with? I was quoted around twice that to ship home, but for £580 I would ship home and sell the bits there unless snapped up prior.
Cheers,
Mike
PS I think we actually met when you were working at Motomail in Auckland and I had just started planning my trip
