HARRY DEVERT Missing in Michoacon Mexico
This man, Harry Devert, went missing after receiving a police escort out of Michoacon, Mexico. He was traveling solo, southbound to Zihuatanejo to see the beach where the final scene from "The Shawshank Redemption" was shot. He never made it. What concerns me most is that I have traveled solo North-South in Mexico 7 times, and I have never received a police escort. I have been stopped at ejercito retens especiale, Mexico DEA, Federal Police , Local Police, as well as immigration but never have received a police escort to get me out of the state and I am female. Something very suspicious with this behavior. Apparently his escort was took over 1 1/2 hours. He was supposed to be handed off to another police group as he left the state. If anyone could shed any light on this subject, would be really appreciated by his family in Pelham, New York.

Couple of pictures might help jog someone's memory.
Fingers crossed for him.

Very sad to hear this. Sure won't help Tourism. Too bad, such a beautiful stretch of coast.
Locals say the only way to get results in a case like this is to PAY someone fairly high up in Police or Army to investigate personally. They will NEVER do it on their own unless it becomes an international incident and they are forced into it by superiors. (unlikely) Cash talks. You must pay for results.
I read about this incident on ADV Rider as well ... feel terrible for the Mom.
Helpless. But at this late date ... even paying someone to get a result may not bring any joy.
I know the Meth powered Cartels have been active lately in Michoacan with some horrible violence as they battle for dominance. (at least 3 major Cartels battling it out in that area, according to reports) Pretty scary stuff. Crazy tweaker bastards.
Perhaps the Mom could start a Fund? Begin to gather support among travelers to help find Harry?

Money talks in the latino culture and I agree with Mollydog!! While Harry told his girlfriend he was being escorted by the military, I think my suspicions were correct......they were not military at all. They were fronting as military in order to rob him and more importantly to them, his bike! Next would be kidnap ransom but perhaps there was a confrontation and he is not alive for them to collect.
FYI: To other riders, it is extremely rare to have a police or army escort in Mexico......so BEWARE!

Harry's body was discovered last week, with his green Kawasaki.
His mother is heart broken.

Unfortunately the worst outcome..
Couldn't see anything recent about Harry, so in case you've not seen or heard, the last update is on the Facebook page. Its not good I'm afraid.

Very sad news. I've read the links above, but can't seem to decipher if it was an accident or not?
