Countries that let non-resident register motorbike
Does anyone know of a country that lets a non-resident register a motorbike.
Like a 'flag-of-convenience' for motorbikes the way Panama is for ships....
Thanks

I think foreigners can register a vehicle in the UK as long as they have an address here, the problem seems to be getting insurance for foreigners on UK registered bikes, you also have to ensure that the road tax, mot test or off road notification are kept up to date if it kept for more than a year.

Thanks Mark
What I am after is a third country to register a bike in where I do not need a real address.
I am going to be leaving my home country and travelling for a while without a bike. However at some point I am going to want to get a bike for the rest of the trip and do not want to go back to my home country just to register it. I hope to be travelling for a couple of years.
I am from Australia and the hassle and expense of shipping a bike from there and then keeping it registered is a pain.

UK Registration
Hi, I had no trouble buying and registering owner ship of a bike in the UK and paying tax. The problem was insurance if you don't have a UK or EU licence. I found a company for the first year but they wouldn't renew. I put the bike in the name of a UK mate and had him insure it with me as a nominated rider. Even this was difficult. In general, I had fewer problems a few years ago when I shipped an Aussie registered bike over and found a company to insure it. So, in practical terms, the UK is not a goer. Mike

You can do it in Mexico and I´ve known people who have done it in The Staes but it will be easier in some staes than others. In Mexico you may need to use a "gestor" (fixer) to help you.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
