Africa - down west coast, up east coast, leaving Europe mid-late November

Hey,

Australian guy lookin for some company!

Still on a Japan-Europe trip with my WR250R. Right now stuck in Aktau-Baku waiting on a new generator from Japan....when I get it I will then head to Georgia and Turkey.

Plan is to spend a month in Turkey starting from the 18 September, then head to Germany in October, buy a new bike (ktm 690 enduro r), run it in properly, get it ready for Africa, leaving around mid-late November. I'm quite flexible - could extend departure date a little if required.

Rough plan for Africa - down west coast, up east coast. Always wanted to go to Morocco, Mali, Ethiopia, Egypt. Have a friend in Ivory Coast I would like to visit, and an offer of a house in Kenya to stay in (from a friend of mine in Australia). Also been hanging out with a guy from Sierra Leone who says his country is beautiful, so might have to go there to haha.

Cheers,
Karl (aka Regie)

Interesting and interested

Also an Aussie and also left from Japan, now in Osh and soon to be heading west to catch a ship to Baku. I believe I was told about you passing through UB in Mongolia.
Also very interested in Africa but have no CDP so it could prove difficult. I'll PM you to discuss further.

Im planning to go up east coast June - early Sept 2016. Not sure of your timings but if they fit let me know and we can explore further.

In particular i am looking to ride with someone up the western side of Tanzania (i'll be entering from Malawi and heading to Rwanda) since i understand it is not advisable to do this stretch alone. I'll be on a kLR650.

Cheers
Andy

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
