Pakistan Azad Kashmir and the Karakoram
Has anyone who does not carry any Pakistani ID motorbiked to AJK and Gilgit Baltistan?
In couple of weeks I will be solo touring in these areas and I am trying to figure out what permits or documents I would require as an American National to ride on a motorbike in AJK and Gilgit Baltistan.
Any advice will be much much appreciated!
Thank you

Hi Rider5,
I'm just catching up after a few months of traveling. I spent a month motorbiking in northern Pakistan and was in AJK in late May. Without Pakistani identification, it's not easy for foreigners to access that area. Since I don't have any Pakistani background or a proper NOC, it was a bit risky to travel without the necessary documentation.
Despite that, I met some fantastic locals, experienced incredible hospitality, and had a one-of-a-kind travel experience that I'll remember for a long time.
You're lucky to be able to visit that part of the world so easily :-)
I've motorbiked across all three sides of Kashmir, and each one offers unparalleled natural beauty, hidden trails, majestic mountains, and diverse cultures and languages.
