Scandinavia in May, June, July
I am wondering if there is anyone interested in riding to Norway, Sweden and Finland this coming summer (Late May to Mid August). I normally ride alone, but have had great luck meeting fellow riders on my trips, so I might be interested in sharing at least part of this Scandinavia trip with another rider or two.
I am an American who keeps a DL650 in Germany and go to Europe to ride each summer. Last summer I went to Poland, Turkey, Greece, Etc. My blog is Ron's Retirement Adventure
I hear that the Scandinavian countries are very expensive, so I am considering camping (although staying in hotels would certainly not break my budget).
I am one of the presenters at the Horizons Unlimited meeting in Germany May 14 -- 17, and am thinking I will start heading toward Denmark and Norway after that meeting is over. However, I am totally flexible and do not actually plan out my trips.
Cheers,
Ron

Thanks Indu. I appreciate you sending me the link to your Norway tips. I will certainly check it out.

Ron,
I'm actually planning on Scandinavia later in the summer (probably September time frame), however I have often been known to be talked into totally changing my plans when a better idea comes up.!
Anyway, I'll be at the HU meeting in Germany so we can talk about it over eine (or two).

Norway is expensive, but offers beautiful scenery in the costal areas. Sweden and Finland are cheaper, about the same as Germany. Swedish crown has lost quite a bit value to the dollar, so as an American its cheaper now than in many years. In Sweden wild camping is legal, which is a great budget alternative. Drop me a message if in Stockholm and need help with anything. Departing on adventure to south Europe in beginning of August.

More later you do north Finland and Norway. The less mosquitoes you have. I will do Lapland beginning of August, so if you are in that area that time, send a message.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
