Seeking bike travellers to cross Turkmenistan together

Hi Community,
I am currently in Yazd, Iran and will be crossing into Turkmenistan at Ashgabat border crossing on April 9th. I will go to Darvaza and further on to Dashoguz via Kunya-Urgench on a 5-days transit visa. Is there somebody out there crossing at the same time that would be interested to ride together?
I am a 36 year old female travelling with a 92 Honda Transalp from Germany to Mongolia.

I would also be interested to meet up for parts of the trip if your schedules do not match completely.

Happy to hear from you!
Save travels,
Cat

How is Iran?

Hello from Chicago.

Sorry this is a bit off topic, but I am curious how well are you being treated in Iran? What nationality are you if you don't mind my asking? All I have heard from other travelers who had ridden Iran personally have told me that it had been their favorite country of all the countries, due to the incredible friendly nature and culture of the Iranian people. I am a US citizen and am considering including it on a trans Asia ride next year. Not sure if my citizenship would be an issue or not with the locals.

Would love to join up with you for a bit now, but you are 1 year too early for me. Any chance you have a travel bog online somewhere?

Thanks, and all the best for a great and fun ride.

Hi all,

thanks for answering, it feels good to see that someone has seen my outcry, even if noone seems to be travelling in time with me. I´ll sum it up in one answer:

I have just spent little over two weeks in Iran and I will surely come back. The people have been just awesomely hospitable and nice from the very beginning to the end. I am German and have been travelling with a male australian companion and we have been welcomed everywhere we went. I have not felt uncomfortable as a woman and people (also men) have been talking to me and even given me dozens of ThumbsUp for riding a motorcycle as a woman.
To be honest, I have no idea how Americans are treated in Iran by government, but I am rather sure with the locals there will be no problem.
My summary: absolutely worth to travel and I will come back for sure in future!

I have simlply requested my Turkmenistan transit visa via an agency, therefore I have no clue how it worked exactly. There has been no problem getting it for me, whilst at the same time my australian travel companion has been refused. I have no clue if it is easier for Germans or for females or whatever was the reason I got the vias with no problem. For my friend it was said that the route Ashgabat - Kunye Urgench - Dashoguz didnt fit the requirements for a transit visa, although my route is exactly the same. So now I am sitting in Ashgabat alone.

Pity none of you is here already, we could surely rock the marble city! ;-)

Sasa, maybe we can meet lateron? We are travelling on via Usbekistan, Tadjikistan, Kirgistan, Kasachstan, Russia, Mongolia. Let´s stay in contact!

Save travels to you all and enjoy!
